Admitting that you are being abused by a family member or intimate partner is a difficult step to take.

How can you tell if you are being abused? Just ask yourself these questions:

  • Is your partner extremely controlling and jealous?
  • Does your partner prevent you from seeing family and friends?
  • Does your partner constantly criticize you and your abilities?
  • Does your partner threaten you or cause you to be afraid?
  • Does your partner hit, punch, slap, or kick you?
  • Has your partner ever prevented you from leaving the house,
getting a job, or continuing your education?
  • Has your partner ever destroyed things you cared about?
  • Does your partner force you to have sex when you do not want to?

If you answered "Yes" to any one of these questions, you are not alone. Millions of family members are struggling with similar difficulties. If you feel like you are in danger, you owe it to yourself to seek help and support.
